Mr. Hyman's Virtual Media Center

The SMART Board is a product of SMART Technologies and is the world's leader in interactive whiteboards.  The board is a large, touch-controlled screen that works with a projector and a computer.  The projector puts the computer’s image onto the interactive whiteboard, which acts as both a monitor and an input device. Users can write on the interactive whiteboard in digital ink or use a finger to control computer applications by pointing, clicking and dragging, just as with a mouse. 

Our school has used SMART Boards since 2006 and was first introduced when Mr. Hyman took over the technology program at PS101.  In the last two years we've  added several new SMART Boards.  They include Technology (Mr. Hyman), Science (Mr. Parlini), and in the following classes / grades:

• Kindergarten (Ms. Gaspari)
• Grade 1 (Mrs. Harris)
• ALL of Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6. 

That brings our school-wide total to an astounding 20 SMART Boards! 

 The Media Center was upgraded to a 77" Wall Mounted SMART Board unit in March, 2010.  The new board is the center-piece of the newly designed Media Center.

SMART Boards and SMART Document Cameras are used for general lessons during class - and for every curriculum area.  They are especially helpful for fun, interactive test prep.
