Reading/Writing workshops are incorporated into technology lessons weekly.  Whether we're learning about Microsoft Word, or practicing a reading skill like main idea, the workshop model is used.

The workshop model consists of a short 5-10 minute [mini] lesson, modeling a skill for students on the SMART Board, which is followed by a practice block of time for the students. After students practice their newly-learned skill at their computer stations, students are brought back to discuss what was learned.  When time permits, the last few minutes are used for keyboarding practice.
